Well just when I thought this whole insurance thing was just interesting
and disturbing, but didn't really affect me, my SO just got a call from
her American Family Insurance Agent.  We rent in Lincoln, NE and Snow(my
SO) just got a renter's policy.  Her agent called to say that American
Family doesn't consider ferrets domesticated animals and that Snow would
have to tell the agent that she was getting rid of the ferrets(wink,
wink) or the agent would have to cancel the policy.  Snow did not
understand at first and exclaimed, "I can't get rid of the ferrets!"
And the agent then repeated the above phrase and Snow got the gist of it.
So at least the agent was nice enough to overlook the ferrets for now.
We are dealing with another pet crisis currently, so we don't really want
to get embroiled with this one.  Anyways....so just when you think it
can't happen to you;).
