Hi Bron,
 
Ferrets do need to be fed more than once per day.  Mine also have a raw
diet and it is available to them 24 hours/day.  I refill their bowls 3
times per day or whenever they (the bowls, not the ferrets.  :-)) are
empty.  With quite a few aged and frail amongst my crew, it's important
that they have the opportunity to eat as much as they like at their own
pace.  They also get lactose-free milk and egg yolk for breakfast.
