While working for the past 12 years in the municipal water/wastewater
industry, I have ALWAYS taken my work shoes off before going in the
house. I have a pair of slip-on shoes I wear just to go between the
house and work shoes.

In Automation, I don't get in the really nasty stuff as often as others
do, still...it always made sense to me to NOT wear those shoes where my
babies step. I could be bringing in any number of diseases, but CD has
always been my greatest fear.

Besides, when the phone yanks me out of bed at 2:30 a.m. in the dead
of winter to fix some emergency, putting on those frozen work shoes is
a great way to wake up Quickly!
