You are an awesome name-giver, Gordan. I've always loved hearing what
you name your ferrets. And you do so swiftly. Oh how I wish I had that
talent. I'm so bad at it. And it causes me a great deal of anxiety just
when I"m supposed to be getting to know and enjoy a new pet. Sigh.
There were a couple of times in the past where I went for weeks with no
ideas and struggled to find the perfect names. I learned quickly that
naming has a lot to do with bonding for me. To not name them kind of
puts a damper on things, distracts me from the important things, and
delays me from getting to know my new little loved one. When I am able
to name a baby in 1-2 days, it's such a rush and relief. And I tend to
bond faster. Every ferret that I've had an extra special with, I've
noticed that I've named them myself, and have done so quickly but they
also have been names that really fit them. If I must "settle" for a
name due to time, that is just as bad as struggling for days or weeks
with no name.

I love hearing about the entire process of how people bring little
ones home, how they get to know their personality and little quirks,
and then name them. I am so appreciative when an FML'er is able to
generously take the time to share their experiences. I sort of get
to live vicariously through them.

I love ferret names because they are so personal and so unique. Not to
bash my husbands love for naming ferrets things like baby, brownie,
precious, sweetie, snowflake, etc, etc, over and over even if the
ferret does not fit that description. ::rolling my eyes:: I think the
ferretiest names tend to be verbs, adjetives and adverbs or even a
noun describing someting chaotic. We are a VERY creative group, no?
