Breeding with polecat's: I looked up ferret-polecat and here's what it had
to say in Webster's 3rd New International Dictionary -unabridged "n: an
unusually vicious ferret valuable as a rodent destroyer, closely resembling
the wild European polecat, and said to result from interbreeding the
domestic ferret with the wild polecat" ......wonder where they got their
information? Names for a group of ferrets: A frolic, frisk, or fandango
sound good to me.

Christmas trees: I probably will not get one as I am (or would be) in terror
of them eating the fallen tree needles and getting a blockage or piercing
their stomachs (see below).

Treats: I have two fuzzbutts, they love ferretvite, nutrical, cat lax,
ferretcoat, chickenflavored ferretbites and honey nut cheerios. They
occasionally accept dog bisquits and QC+ cat food as treats (wh/has 34%
protein). They are starting to like bananna - neither like raisans (but I
continue to hope)!? By the way - what is the story on vitamen overdose?(I
can't spell today:)

Problem: As a fairly new ferret owner I went and really tried to educate
myself but I have had several problems. One - I have no discipline and so
find it hard to keep the furkids locked up in a cage. Two - I had no
conception of what it REALLY means to ferret proof a house. One intestinal
blockage surgery (but they had to go in twice for the second piece they
missed the first time) later (but thist was from an accidental foray into
the basement which is stricly verboten) I am still being astounded and
confounded by what they'll eat, I am trying very hard but.... Latest -
Giesela (the stitches barely out) has been eating ----- the fringe (heavy
twisted looped fringe) off the bathroom rug!! I only found this out because
I am now the connoisor(sp?) of poop and go through it like I was predicting
the future in some weird ritual. This follows my catching her eating on a
washcloth, both her and Boris a box of feminine things(again first noticed
something in their "output"), and of course my lessons all began with holes
in my socks. They get Totally Ferret plus more supplements that is really
good for them so I seriously doubt this is a nutritional thing. Are mine
really weird? No one or book told me my bathroom rugs were life
threatening, recliner's yes. Any advice or stories of other weird
ingestions out there? (I feel like a failure when I find something new in
their poop). Maybe I can add something bad tasting to the laundry? Thanks
for listening.

Also - Giesela has patches on her shaved belly that look sort of like a
black and blue bruise - I think this is what the comments regarding "blue"
ferrets have been about? (I asked my vet and she thought this was not
intestinal bleeding etc. cuz I was worried). My guess is that when the hair
starts to grow back for some reason the skin pigment changes for awhile.
