Monday, May 12, 1997 at 4:00 PM we were notified by the apellate court that
Kodo's case did indeed need to go through the court system to be decided.
(No kidding!!!) The court gave us a date to start of Friday, May 16th to
start testimony etc. That's this Friday. We have to have all the witness'
in place then etc. We were also informed that there was a lot of interest
in the capitol as to the outcome since this is THE precedent setting case so
we best have the best we can there. Guess what (here comes the hook) we're
far short of the funds needed to do this at this point!!!!

The kicker is they know one afternoon isn't gonna accomplish anything, so
the second date set is for Wednesday the 21st. This means out-of-town
people may have to be here 5 days, not cheap by any standards. Now I'd like
to let you know that approximatly $1500 has come in from donations. Even
$3.00 from a 9 year old who has been reading about Kodo's plight. We thank
everyone who has contributed. We simply can't say thanks enough to you all
and we know of no way to re-pay you except to say that this is for all our
fuzzies, not just Kodo.

Here's a couple kickers for you. Today is day 10 of his imprissonment.
Friday will be day 14 and Wednesday will be day 19. If he had rabies he
would have been over the rainbow bridge by even today let alone Friday. The
Animal Control people insist this is in the intrest of public health but in
the ten days he's been there we are unaware of any vet being called to check
his health. Go figure!!!!

The courts did tell animal control that he was to be kept in good health and
nothing was to be done to him untill this is settled. He lives on for now.

That's about it, Kodo get's his day in court if we can afford it (isn't that
always the way it is?). You all have done so much to help and the
generosity is GREAT, but we need to beg, cry, plead and throw a temper
tantrum for more. If it's possible we still need help finacially.
