Hello All!!
I have never posted on the FML, but I have helped a few out in the past, now
I Need your help. My little Oliver is having surgery today. He has
intestinal blockage, and is it in the stomach. It all started out as him
having seizures! Yes Seizures!! The first one I really didn't catch on, I
thought he had gotten stuck under the ladder in their cage and was in a
panic, so I *blew* it off. Of course I checked him over to make sure he
wasn't hurt, and called someone immediately, but they also thought it wasn't
that bad. Well, once he had his second one, that was it!! So I had called
one source, wasn't too sure about that answer I got (insulinoma), so then I
called another, Trish Curtis. This woman is MIRACULOUS!! This is the first
time I had ever gone to her for help, and the first thing she did, was get
my number so Dr. Kendrick would call me back. I had met Dr. Kendrick at the
FLC Ferret Fair on Saturday, and the man pretty much well impressed me.
Well, while all this is happening, I was talking to another friend of mine
David, on the other phone and he was trying all he could to get me to settle
down. Then I was hopping back and forth on the Ferret Chat Server to tell
Brooke, Lisa, Razz, and Swamp what was going on. And they were really
concerned! (Keep in mind all of these situations happened about midnight or
so). So then Dr. Kendrick called me back, and talked to me and told me what
to do and what I should expect my normal veterinarian to do. So bright and
early 7;00 AM, I checked on Ollie, he had been fasting in order to get a
good blood test result, he had another seizure. This time I witnessed from
beginning to end. It was not pretty. So to make a long story short, I ran
him to my normal vet, who happened to be off that day, and immediately
called Dr. Kendrick. This man works on the opposite side of the town, but a
least he knew Ollie and he seemed that he really truly cared about my
situation. So, I drove there as fast as I could, my emergency brake pulled
all the way up (WHOOPS!), haven't even looked at myself in the mirror, got
lost, and in a frantic. So my question is, has anyone have ever dealt with
seizures with intestinal blockage (from so much pain)??? He's only four
months old!! I need anyones answers or comments. In the three years or
being in the ferret *business* I have never been through any type of
surgery. Thank you so much TRISH, BROOKE, RAZZ, LISA, SWAMP, and DAVE! I
will keep everyone posted. Ollie goes into surgery today. KEEP YOUR
FINGERS CROSSED!!!
