I have been getting complaints of animal abuse and child neglect of
a woman in Lancaster Ohio. 3 ferrets were used as a babysitting tool
to keep the 6 children all under the age 6 occupied and away from
the mother. The children squeezed 2 ferrets to death and blood was
witnessed coming from the ferrets noses. Veterinarian care was not
given to these animals. They died. The 3rd ferret was placed in a new
home after some people asked the woman to give him up. A week later
she ot her kids another ferret from a neighbor that gave her th
other ferrets. A witness has seen the children throw this ferret down
a flight of stairs. Where is the mom when this abuse is taking place.
What happens if the ferret turns around and decides to defend itself.
ANY animal can bite in fear or pain. I am worried not only for the
ferret but for the children.

The humane society has been notified. They say they will investigate
but because of Ohio law if the woman refuses entry to her home they
cannot proceed with out a search warrant. The only way to get a search
warrant is to get proof of abuse in the form of photographs or video.

I have the womans address and full name and will supply it if someone
can help.

I am posting this anomalously because I've been flamed enough through
a facebook post I made about the situation. Some of you will know who
I am via facebook. People want me to go and take the ferret or keep
suggesting I call the humane society which I told them over and over
again I already did. I dont have the authority to just go to this
womans house and demand the ferret and if I took the ferret I would the
be stealing from a private home. therefore breaking the law and if she
called the police I would go to jail. I cant afford to do that and I
have animals already in my care that I have to worry about. I need
logical advice here and that is what I am asking for. So please don't
get mad at me I am doing what I can with the laws that are placed.
