Hello everyone,

A discussion of the ferret issue will run on a Sacramento TV station channel
13, California This Week, moderated by Bob Hilton. It will air either at
3:00 or 3:30. Debby G. from Ferrets Anonymous (hence no last name) and
myself from CFL, faced a Fish and Game Widlife Biologist, John Carlson (I
believe that was his name), and UC Davis wildlife biologist Dessely Whisson.
Dessley Whisson has testified in opposition to ferret legalization at our
recent hearings yet somehow the host thought she was neutral. I quickly
cleared that impression up for him.

Anyway, I don't know how informative the show was, I hated the format
because there were so many commercial interruptions, at least three , and in
a discussion with four people it means you barely have time to rebutt or
clarify what the opposition stated and make any additional point. Debby G.
had provided the host with some background information that did much to
state our case, in fact, the host did turn to the DFG folks and tell them
that he was definitely neutral himself on this issue but DID THEY HAVE ANY
HARD DATA??????? I loved it.

In any case, thanks to the hard work of Debby G. and the referral from Pat
Wright, there at least was a discussion of the ferret issue and hopefully
the viewers will see through the flimsy case DFG (including Whisson who was
asked to get involved in the ferret issue by CA Waterfowl) made for keeping
domesticated ferrets in a list of wildlife! How any wildlife biologist can
argue for this fallacy of keeping a single domesticated species in a list of
prohibited wildlife is beyond me and certainly discredits both them and the
organizations they work with.

Sorry for the late notice, I've been swamped and frankly forgot since it
doesn't air in my area.
