i first want to thank everyone who has sent and are continuing to send
good wishes and advice for my poor little pixie! you all are wonderful,
just wonderful! :) all this good energy has just got to help! :)

so, the latest:

i've been afraid to update anyone; fearing it would only be awful news
to share. :( it's been a rough week and i've been stressed out and so
horribly worried; it seemed no matter what i've tried, the foot kept
looking worse and worse. well, we're not out of the woods just yet, but
pixie just got back from the vet this afternoon...we may save the foot
yet. she got acupuncture treatments today and will go in for more on
friday. we're still doing hydrotherapy and massage on the area (and
topical homeopathic herbal cream i have on-hand, topricin, if anyone
knows of it or has used on their ferrets), still the antibiotics,
anti-inflammatories and analgesics. her attitude and energy levels are
just awesome. still eating/ drinking, pooing/peeing, trying to get
around and cause mischief. other than the hind foot (and a bit of
swelling in one front foot, and a blackened tail-tip which may go)
you'd not know there was anything wrong. she's pretty amazing, really.

now we're looking at a lot of hands-on work and keeping her active and
motivating the area to heal, and it's going to take time. there is a
large area of dead skin on the top of her foot that the vet says will
be falling/sloughing off soon, and whether new granulating tissue is
forming under it or if we're going to see muscles exposed (ew!) in
which case, it's back to the vet *pronto* for treatment and wrapping,
and see what path we'll take from there. per the vet, she's had a lot
of vascular degeneration/destruction and it's up to us to get blood
perfusing the area again.

she's gained quite the reputation there at the vet as the 'wonder
weasel' for pulling thru this. i can start to breathe a bit easier,
but she's still not totally out of the woods...but it is looking more
promising and hopeful. *whew*

now, with trepidation, since i hate to put out the 'begging bowl', but
with my partner laid off and only on unemployment, and me at barely 15
hours a week at my job, i'm offering up my handloomed caps on my etsy
store if anyone's interested so i can try to raise a bit of money to
help with the vet bills thus far (i hope this isn't seen as spam, BIG!)
i've been making them to consign in my local area but it's been sad and
slow-to-none as far as sales. i'll be adding more as i get them done,
or if you have a request for a special color, let me know? if you can
help, please do! :)

they're just simple loom-knitted caps, but they are warm...my
brother-in-law wore his to alaska last year and was pleased. :)
i'm looking at finding some more 'ferret-y' items i have to put
up on ebay to help with expenses, but i'm not sure any of it would
matter to anyone but me! :-/

again, so many thanks to everyone, and i'll try to update with
hopefully nothing but good news!

~sherrie (aka daoine o') and the pixie-doodle

burleigh and shay, missing their fierce little hammock-buddy

and all those over the bridge...
