Well, everyone is entitled to their opinions.  While these words to you may
not lend themselves to our non-human friends, they do for some people.
There are many folks, myself included, who don't make the species
distinction when talking about their family.  If someone should do the
unthinkable and kill my ferrets, it may not be murder in a court of law, but
it would be to me.
