Hello, we are new to this list, and we are also new Ferret owners.
 
We love our new baby, but everytime we try and hold or touch her she bites
and will draw blood.  We have read the "nipping" tips on Ferret.net and we
are not sure if will we be able to train her to stop nipping ( at least
not draw blood).  There is almost no chance of us being able to hold her
unless, we get a good hold around her neck so she cannot bite, but that
is not the way we would like to hold her.  We have been thinking about
returning her to the place we purchased her from, and picking a new one..
but we don't want to give up so soon.  When we first saw her in a cage with
approx.  10 other ferrets, none of them would bite, we put our hands in the
cage to play or hold them, none of them bit including Minnie( our ferrets
name) she did not start biting until we got back home.  We are not sure if
its just her that bites like this amongst the rest of the ferrets we saw
but then again this could be a phase that all ferrets go through, and if it
is a phase when can we expect her to stop biting with the proper training
of course.  So I guess the question is, should we take her back and try to
find one that does not bite so hard, or do we just keep Minnie and spend
lots of time wirh her to help her to stop biting?  We would prefer the
latter, but not sure if we can train her since we cannot really get close
enough to hold her.  We appreciate any comments or advise.
