I have a question about anyone whose had their ferret on any type of
allergy food for IBD. My 1 1/2 yr old ferret, Gus, has had off and on
again diarrhia for the past several months. If its not diarrhia, its
really soft and runny. He's constantly eating cuz he's constantly at
the toilet. I've tried a number of things: non-chicken food, chicken
baby food, non-chicken babyfood, Vivify, Clay, a few antibiotics,
probiotics... and now the vet has got him on Science Diet Allergy ZD
food. He said do the food change slowly, which I did, and now he's
fully on the ZD food (& he has been for a few days), and its gone back
to watery diarrhea again. I asked the vet, since its changed to the
worse, should I take him off it? He said no, to try Immodium (which
isnt helping), and give the food 2 months to see if it works.

So, my question is for anyone whose ferret has to be on some type of
allergy food, did you see it go from bad to worse, and if it did work,
how long before they had normal stools again?

This has been going on for too long with my poor little guy, and I'm
reluctant to give this 2 months if it is *not* normal to see the
stools go from bad to worse. Thanks for any help or input!! Gus and
I appreciate it!

Andrea and Gus
