Even though we don't have kitties, I can share a kitty story.

The pastor and his wife that live two houses away have a rather large
outside black male tom kitty. I don't even know his name but he
obviously enjoys spending time lounging on our porch and visiting our
front door. If he's around when I come home, he trots over to me, lays
down and tantalizingly rolls around on his back. He enjoys rubbing
against my legs and often will lay down on his back with his tummy
exposed inviting a gentle caress of his silky fur. While he behaves
gently towards me, he assertively chases off any other kitties that
venture onto our street. He patrols our back yard as if it is his own.
He watches the squirrels and birds attentively and when I hear their
warning cries I'll go out and admonish him for making them nervous.
This hunter kitty lowers his head and slinks back home.

When I leave the front door open, he'll come up to our screen door, stand
up, look in and watch any ferrets that are bouncing around the living
room. He's never actually met the ferrets, other than with the screen
door between them. One day I opened the door and cautiously invited
him in. He layed down and rolled on the porch not attempting to enter.
I cautiously let two ferrets out on the porch, he continued to roll,
ignoring the two burly critters that were sniffing his tail. It was as
if they weren't there. He didn't have a concern. He accepts me, hence
he accepts the ferrets as a part of me.

hugs. tle
