It must be very difficult for you to see Loki so sick. To answer
your question of are you doing the right thing, I would have to answer
yes. I think you will know when little Loki is suffering. When Hun-Hun
could no longer walk and he completely refused everything, I knew I
had to put him to rest. I could tell he was suffering. It was the
hardest thing I have done in my life. If Loki is still strong enough
to take the interferon I would at least give him some time on this.
What does the vet think? Can the vet give him something to relieve
the bloating? Hun-Hun was on a diuretic for fluid retention but he
had heart problems. If your vet thinks there is no improvement
and you feel a second opinion is not warranted and you trust your
vets abilities then I would consider putting Loki to rest. It is such
a difficult decision but it is a decision that we have to make because
we love our pet and to suffer needlessly is cruel.
I hope Loki fights it out. Hun-Hun came back fighting several times,
but I knew when he became too tired to fight. Good luck to you and Loki,
I will be thinking of you both.
