There is not an approved feline vaccine for ferrets. If your ferret has had
reactions to a canine distemper vaccine - either fervac-d or galaxy-d then
simply switch to the other of the two. If your vet has been giving feline
vaccines then simply don't get anyomre of them. Swicth to a canine distemper
vaccine.

Vaccines are not 100% reliable and any ferret can carry the canine distemper
virus to another so all should get inocculations.

Rumors have been a problem in the ferret world for a long time. We've had
problems with it so we completely understand your situation. We've had some
pretty cruel stories passing around about us and our daughter as well. We'd
hate us too if any of them were true. That is no bill has never struck a
woman - strange how that one got started... Some folks need to get a grip on
reality. Its a shame we ever had to deal with that lie.

We hope others found our information useful. We apologize for our role in
the sillier side of the MF debate.

BTW "Pete" Reid.

This is easily accomplished with or without the internet. The American
Ferret Association welcomes calls about referrals to breeders or shelters.
They have done this for several years. If breeders want to be known by the
AFA they need to talk to them. They have two shelters listed in Missouri

Ferret Referral Service
Director: Leah & Jim Harrington
Jennings, MO (314) 382-6327

K. C. Ferret Hotline
Director: Dr. Bobbi McCanse
Kansas City, MO (816) 842-3707

Obviously KC is the left side of the state and we do not know where
Jennings is - been gone far too long. (I was born in St Louis for those did
didn't know but cared - bill) Others are listed in neighboring states.

Inadvertantly the AFA address was posted wrong on this list a while back,
the correct address and contact information is:

American Ferret Association, Inc.
P.O. Box 8056
McLean, Virginia 22106
Tel: 1-888-FERRET-1
Fax: 1-703-448-6914

The hope is that a private breeder will discuss completely all the
ramifications of adopting the kit and make it impossible to be just an
impulse buy. Thats not always true unfortunately.
