ferret math hath struck us again. in honor of my roommate's birthday, we
got a new baby ferret to spice up our household a little. (I've secretly
been itching to get another one anyway!) He's about eight weeks old, and
his name is Loki. I'm not sure what to classify him as...he's got light
hair on his body, with dark brown legs and feet. There's two little white
circles at the edge of his toes, and he has a white bib. He has a dark
spike on the top of his head. He's adorable! The other three seem to
accept him already, although he'll be in a seprate cage for a few days at
least, so everyone has time to adjust.

So what is the solution to "ferret fever"? Is there a twelve step program
to hep the addiction? Because I've spent over $150 on stuff for them in
the past three days, not including buying Loki. And it wasn't stuff we
needed, it was mostly fun stuff. They're spoiled rotten, and I'm not rich!
Plus, I can't seem to stop buying them. :) The deadly ferret beam has me
in its rays! I lost the battle today, although I'm not going to complain
too much. ;)

OK, I have a question: we have an issue that I have not yet seen mentioned
on the FML, although I've only been here a few months: do anyone else's
ferrets poop in the bathtub during bathtime? All three of our boys will do
it, although Miss Luna seems to be in control of her bodily functions. At
first I thought maybe it was because they were scared, now I'm sure it's a
form of protest: and they're smart about it, too. We got wise and started
holding them over the open toilet during lather or drying time, and it
worked once. Then they started waiting until we put them down, and would
promptly run and poop on the bathroom floor while they were running from us.
Then they proceed to try and run through it, presumably to mess up all the
work we spent bathing them. We bathe them separately,so they aren't
collaborating about this, yet all three of them do it - so I was just
wondering if it's a weird ferret thing.

One final question - does anyone feed their ferrets hairball and/or
laxatives (such as laxatone)? If so, how often do you do it? I read
somewhere that it can help ferrets, but I wanted to get some firsthand
advice from everyone. Thanks!

ferrets are like potato chips...you can't have just one!
