I really like the a/d and use if as a supplement for my older guys. I
always meant to write them and never got around to it. I buy it by
the case and have for years. It is now available through PetsMart's
Banfield Clinic, but the rules vary.

Depending on where I go, I have been told the following:
1. You can bring a script from your vet and file it, then you can get
the a/d here. It will be good at ALL Banfield locations if we have it
in the system.
2. Your pet must be examined by OUR vet here and the script is only
good HERE, not everywhere.
3. You can have up to 100 refills.
4. You can only get it once.

I could go on, but you get the idea. Anyway, I have carried a script
from MY vet with me (until it disappeared after the accident) and
also carry a case when I travel. Unfortunately, it did not survive
the accident and I was afraid to store the dented cans for future use.
Gandalf was getting a/d at the time.

I just wish it was consistent. If I give up the script at one location,
I would not be able to use it elsewhere. Anyway, just an observation.

[Moderator's note: Some time ago I called 100 vet offices at random (2
in each state). I said I was traveling and needed some Hills K/D for my
cat and asked if I could pick some up. 96 said I could just come by and
get some. 1 or 2 said they would call my vet to OK it. 1 wanted to see
the empty bag. Only one refused. Based on that, I doubt you'll have
much trouble. There is no LEGAL need for a script, so it's pretty much
up to the individual office/vet. BIG]
