Boy was I overwhelmed by the response to my post.  I'd like to thank
everyone who sent me mail and gave me advice.  The overall opinion was that
ferrets aren't as sickly as they would seem just from reading the FML.
 
To those who gave "care quotes" it was very helpful and seemed affordable
although there was one that kind of scared me by estimating that costs
could run into the $1,000's.  I definitely think my husband are going to
buy one once we get settled into our apartment.  Ferts just sound too cute
and cuddly to resist.  Now if I can just find a nice breeder to get one
from.  The one breeder I wrote to has yet to respond to me.
