Thank you Todd for a little reasoning on this issue!  Everyone is making
assumptions about what happened when we don't know!  It is obvious to
everyone that you can't commit or even threaten violence when you are
trying to raise awareness for an issue, so let's stop trying to say that
is what Pat Wright was doing until we know.
 
But who else is willing to go to jail for this??????????????????  He is in
jail and has lost considerably financially to stand up for this issue!  If
some of you were in California and knew the threat of going to jail or
having your ferret killed you might be a little more understanding.  Not
everyone agrees with the way Pat does things, and that is understandable.
But the police should not be banging down your door because you have a
domestic animal that is "safer" for people and the environment than cats or
dogs!  No ferrets should be in danger in the first place because the law is
ridiculous.
 
I can see where this is headed however.  PLEASE FERRET OWNERS OF
CALIFORNIA, DO NOT BECOME DIVIDED ON THIS ISSUE!!!  Some will support Pat
Wright, and some will not.  Whether or not what this particular person is
"right" is not the issue we need to expend our energies on.  We need to see
this for what it is: a ridiculous outcome to a ridiculous law.  We need to
keep fighting for legalization.  This is the most that this has ever been
talked about on this list and still people are just not getting it.  It
is not whether Pat Wright is wrong or right, it is about how this law IS
WRONG.  Come on, people in CA and out, work to change the law so that the
ferrets that are in CA (they're not the ones to choose to be there!) can
be safe.
