I'm afraid I don't have too much to offer in this light. Tribble had a red
swollen anus after her descenting surgery, for a couple of weeks. Her vet
decided that it went something like: butt hurts. ferret drags butt on floor.
butt hurts worse. ferret drags butt some more, makes area even worse. and so
on and so on and so on. So he prescribed some antibiotic/anesthetic oinment
for the area and hot-packing it two-three times a day (she *loved* that.
NOT!). Could be your little one got some litter (if that's what you use) stuck
to her anus and started the above cycle. Or, as someone mentioned, there
*could* be an obstruction or constipation for some reason causing her to strain
and causing the problem. Your trip to the vet should help a lot -- I'm sure
s/he will be able to give you some good hints/treatments. If your little one
had an obstruction of some sort, she'd probably feel a lot worse and you'd
probably know it, so keep an eye on her for any depression/lethargy. Hope she
feels better soon!
