Depending where you live on how easy you can get them.  I am in Florida
so not easy at all unless cold weather.  I go to the tractor supply store
and buy wood pets and that is pellets I use for litter a lot cheaper than
yesterdays news.  One bag is around $5 and it is a good size bag.
 
Also home depot and Lowes usually carry wood pellets
