Well, there are two ways to get a ferret to accept a leash, depending on
your ferrets temperment.  Your first option would be to just give the leash
to the ferret and hope that the ferret appreciates it.  If the ferret smiles
at you, then runs to a hidey-hole with the leash, then it has been accepted.
If your ferret just sits there and looks at you like you are dumb, then take
the least back, and firmly tell the ferret: "This leash is NOT FOR YOU!  You
CAN'T have this leash!  It is NOT YOURS!" and then proceed to put it in an
apparently ferret-proof area, while the ferret it watching.  If things go as
expected, the moment you leave the area, your ferret will teleport to where
the leash is, grab it and stash it away somewhere.  Again, the ferret has
*accepted* the leash.  Does this answer your question?  If not, it's cuz
this was meant as humor! :)
 
Seriously though, I've found that the quickest way to get a ferret to accept
a leash being placed on them is to put it on, then immediately follow up
with a favorite treat.  I use Ferretone or Ferretvite.  They quickly learn
to associate the leash with something good and may even bring the leash to
you to get it put on! :)
