1) Request for donations to legal funds for the Lawsuit against the DOH.

1) Ferret owners along with the New York Humane Society and the ASPCA
   will be filing a lawsuit (*an article 78) challenging the New York City
   Health Department's list of wild dangerous animals as "arbitrary and
   capricious".  The Lawsuit MUST be filed within 120 days of the DOH's
   ruling, which means that it must be filed by October 28, 1999.
 
    Mr. Irving Heisler Esq.  has agreed to take the case and fight for the
    rights of both ferrets and iguanas.  Mr. Heisler estimates that the
    total costs of this lawsuit could reach $10,000.  It is very important
    to raise as much of this money as possible before the deadline of
    October 28th, 1999.
 
    Letters and calls have gone out to several large corporations including
    Pet Land, PetCo, Pet Company and Marshall Farms, but more funds are
    needed.  Any donation would be helpful to this fight.  Even 5 and 10
    dollars adds up -although more is good too!
 
    Checks should be made payable directly to the lawyer Irving Heisler
    Esq, and mailed to:

2) We've added new info to the site and changed the layout a little these
   past two weeks.  If you haven't dropped by in a while, check it out.

  Legalization and FACT (Ferret Assoc. of CT) have done mailings regarding
  the New York City Ferret ban at their own expense.  These are OTHER
  STATES helping us out!  Please visit the "Donations Needed" link at
  NYCFerrets to find out where you can send checks and/or stamps to thank
  them and help replenish their funds.
 
 - Added info and forms to submit NYC ferret Vets and Pet Stores for a
   mailing
 
 - Added the number for Ms. Freed's bill to several pages "Intro 627: The
   Ferret Regulation Bill".
 
 - Added a little more information about the 9/9/99 Press Conference (w/
   permission from the people involved) including the identity of "the man
   w/ the purple ferret on his shoulder." ;)
 
9/9/99  - Added "How A Bill Becomes A Law" page
 
9/3/99  - Added NYC Ferret Ban Flyer in downloadable PDF form
 
- Fixed link to send email to Kathryn Freed (Thank you Barb for pointing
  out the broken link!)
