hi all.

got a story for you then my question afterwards. last week, i noticed that
bianca, my 7 yar old fert, was a bit too sleepy so i went to open the cage
(usually she wont hear me since sheis deaf, but she will feel the vibe from
the cage). i noticed that she hadn`t pooped all day since i had changed
the litter, but that's ok, i guess she just didn't want to go. so i come
to pick her up. i touched her, and then again, she didn't wake up. so i
pick her up and she then again she doesn,t wake up. i have had the DFS
happen to me before, so i try to wake her up by blowing air in her face.
nothing. i start to worry. i try scruffing her (she REALLY HATES THAT,
with a passion), and again, nothing. i tried something jsut to see...i
know ferrets noses are very sensitive, so i licked the tip of her nose, and
again nothing. by now, it has being a good minute. at this point, i start
to think that she is rally dead, so i put her back in the cage. i go get
my girlfriend, and ask her to get the pet carrier in order to bring her to
the vet to do a post mortum. we grab her, put her in the pet carrier and
while putting on our shoes, after 2-3 minutes, she decides to wake up! can
you imagine our reaction? what if we had decided to barry her in the yard?
i wa so happy and so mad at the same time! why didn't she wake up after
being picked up and manipulated many many times?

so i guess my question is this...how do YOU wake up a ferret when they are
playing that DFS trick on you? i cant wake her up with noise, she is deaf,
and wont wake up while being scruffed (that was a first).i dont want to
hurt her, but i dont want to bring a living ferret to a vet thinking its
dead

thanks in advance
dan
