Folks,

Gale Carlisle here. I wanted to make you all aware of a new issue at
a local Petco. It seems that Scott the new RCAC, or regional animal
manager, in southern Connecticut has decided that when a store gets a
deaf ferret in, they are to try to SELL rather than adopt out, the poor
baby. I know this is happening because there is a deaf ferret, striped
head and all, at the Norwalk CT Petco right now. I spoke to the store
manager about the situation. His hands are tied. This is thanks to
a management change in the upper echelon. (I know this store manager
well enough to know that he isn't letting that baby be sold under false
pretenses. He won't sell this little boy without telling the interested
people that he is deaf and will require special care.)

We need to let Petco know that putting a ferret up for sale that is
guaranteed to be returned by someone who doesn't understand his needs is
unacceptable. I've already written a complaint via their general comment
line. However, I think we need to make it clear that I'm not the only
person who finds this situation appalling and repugnant.

For the record, as soon as I found out about him I made some calls and
found a fuzzy-mom who is willing to adopt him and give him that care he
needs. The store manager knows this, and has my number at the ready
when the brass come to their senses.

Thanks for your help folks!
