8-IN-1 TREATS WARNING

This is a warning about products made by 8-in-1 called Marshmallow Cakes
and Fruit Cakes, and marketed as ferret treats. Several ferrets have had
surgery due to intestinal blockages due to the fruit chucks in the
products. The message stated that several ferrets had died.

Large amounts of fruit or vegetable matter can be dangerous to your
ferret. Please remember that a 'large' amount to a 1-pound ferret isn't
very much!! Some time ago, FACT (Ferret Assoc of Connecticut) published a
warning about raisins - a ferret had gotten into a raisin container and
had eaten a great many, becoming extremely sick in the process. Ferrets
CANNOT digest fruit fiber! And due to their small size, very small
amounts - a teaspoonful, for instance - can have dire effects. Please
limit all treats, and be especially careful with pieces of fruit or
vegetable!

Also fresh soft treats can lodge in their canine teeth and make it very
difficult for them to chew. It is always best to dry them out.
