A ferret savvy shopper reported today 7/9/03 that ferret kits with ONLY
milk teeth and prolapsed rectums are at a pet shop in Claremont, NH.
Store personnel admit that the vet has not okayed the sale of the
ferrets.  It was further stated by store personnell that these same
ferrets had been moved from the Lebanon location to the Claremont
location when it was discovered they were underage.
 
These ferrets are being held within a locked cubicle - however many query
how they were imported into the state at such a young age, when in fact
RSA 437:10.IV:
No person, firm or corporation shall ship or bring into the state of New
Hampshire, to offer for sale or resale in the state of New Hampshire, any
cat, dog or ferret less than 8 weeks of age.  No licensee shall offer for
sale or resale any cat, dog or ferret less than 8 weeks of age.
 
Ferrets with merely milk teeth as several of these were reported are
under the age of five weeks and may not be able to properly consume
kibbled diet.
