Hello everyone,
I posted a few weeks ago about the two adrenal ferrets I inherited from my
little brother. Basta is a 6 year old girl and Mowgli is a 4 year old boy
who has a tumor around his vena cava as well.

I am in Connecticut and was trying to find a Dr. who might do the surgery
at cost within 5 hrs. driving distance. I have since pretty much lost
hope on that front....

However, both ferrets have started to regrow hair with Lupron Rx, which my
parents were willing to help pay for. Unfortunately, we live in Fairfield
County and the only exotics vet in the area charges a $48 exam fee and $90
for an injection. This is per ferret.

My parents are no longer willing to help (apparently they were under the
impression that subsequent visits would be less than visit #1). I am so
heartbroken, as I was ECSTATIC to see their hair start to grow back :) :)

My question is this: My mother was trained to give both IM and Sub Q
injections for my brother, and recently gave antibiotic injections to
my cockatiel (not easy!). She is willing and able to inject the Lupron
herself, but our vet insists on doing it himself. I see his point, he
wants to be able to examine them each month. Unfortunately, I cannot
and my parents will not pay for this.

Does anyone know of a vet in the CT area or anywhere who might be willing
to prescribe the injections so that we can continue to treat them?
Please, please help me if you can. I love these ferrets and I feel a
huge responsibility to my brother to care for them properly. I am so
unimaginably frustrated by my parents' attitude I cannot begin to tell you.

If you can offer any help or ideas, please let me know. My email address

I am very eagerly awaiting any help you all can offer. Thanks for
reading :)
