I agree they should not be selling ferrets.  I got my first ferret at a
Pet Smart adotion day for dogs and cats though.  The shelter I got her
from did not give me any information about them at all, I learned as I
went because she was just so beautiful.  I did not do any research until
after I got her because I did get her on impulse.  Luckily I love my
little girl and did the research I could to try to find out as much as
possible.  I got my second ferret from a shelter after doing this
research.  Unfortunately I know many people get in over their heads to
begin with and just dont care enough even if they do buy on impulse to
do the research needed.  It is very sad to think there will be more and
more ferrets in shelters because of this.
