Our ferret seems to be in with the latest trends lately... she's taken up
bungee diving! I keep my bicycle in my room, to minimize chances of it being
stolen from the basement, and there are some bungee cords hanging from one of
the handles. Wednesday decided that these would make super tug-of-war partners,
and she'll go bouncing around with her teeth clamped firmly around the hook at-
tachment. I made sure she can only access the one with a capped tip, so she
doesn't accidentally cut her mouth in her enthusiasm. She likes it.
Re: the ferret Nikki suddenly being a pest in the a.m. - I don't know what'd
cause her to do this suddenly, but Wednesday has been doing it pretty much
from the start. One or two nights ago I woke to a "thud-splash!" sound, and
the little nut had climbed up to a night table I thought was inaccessable to
her and knocked a cup of juice off the stand. Almost managed to get it right
onto my head, too (I've a futon). She also loves to dive under the covers and
nibble, lick and scratch at my toes. I can deal with the licks and scratches,
but the biting is a no-no and I've taken up the habit of sleeping with my feet
firmly wrapped in the blanket or at least with socks on! She's getting better
about it, last night I think she wanted me to get up and play but she stuck to
licking and scratching and so I let her stay there; eventually she fell asleep.
She crawls in with me frequently, romping around and over me for a while and
eventually curling up near me and dozing off. Sometimes she simply wants to be
held, though more frequently she'd prefer me to chase her, I think! :) But
there is definitely something to the salt-taste hypothesis. She also likes to
dive in and out of peoples shoes, even the ones much too small for her to fit
much of her body into. Hmm, maybe we should form a "friends of ferrets with
foot fetishes" support group or something...
We may be moving to a ferret-legal state (New York) soon... I'm psyched! (New
York *is* ferret-legal, right?) Now we just need to find a place where pets are
permitted!
Hi Max... oh, speaking of car trips, you left some books in mine I think. Shall
I mail them? Along with photos of Wednesday and of DC, which came out nicely!
