Pet Day

Today was "Pet Day at the local Quality Farm and Fleet store. We live in
a small town, a rural community, and Quality has about every thing you'll
ever need. They have a great supply of pet foods and yes, even ferret
treats.

I got the boys up and out this morning letting them run the morning energy
out, got nails touched up harnesses on and off we went...

There wasen't a big turn out there, a few cats a few dogs and more lizards
than I care to see. One goat, and two pet chickens. BUDDY the fearless
decided he wanted to "be friends" with one of the chickens. Sad to say the
chicken had other ideas about its social contacts on a Saturday morning.
BUDDY would approach, give a few friendly dooks, the chicken responded by
pecking BUDDY squarely on the head. The look of surprise / astonishment
was followed by splayed toes and the biggest toes. BUDDY promptly lay as
flat as he could get. I'm holding my breath expecting a ferret attacks
chicken incident sure as the sun rises. BUDDY decides to try a second
greeting, again was pecked square on the top of his head. Again he plops
on the ground, flat as he can go.

At this point he decided this is enough, and up on my pants leg he jumped.
The chicken owner, (or is it the owner of the chicken) apoligized and
offered to pay for any damage. We decided the only damage was to pride
and a bit of ferretvite soon fixed that. At least the chicken person was
soon cuddling Weezle and receiving nose kisses.

A stop at the local drive-in for fert water and snacks for Dad and a few
ferret flirts with the car hops.

It was a good morning in small town U.S.A.
Weezle , BUDDY and tired 'ol Dad
