[Moderator's note: Alicia forwarded this from another mailing list --
perhaps it seems out of context at first, but it can stand alone. BIG]

Hello Danee-

Thanks the first panel did turn out quite lovely! We would like to build
a series of panels to make a more impressive statement- all panels would
be hung at large gatherings like the Ferret Symposium and other ferret -
educational events.

A contract is being drawn up so the individual panels can travel ( like
the AIDS Quilt) - it will require the event sponsors to be responsible,
pay for shipping, insurance and damage costs - and hold them to a timely
return to one or the other of the coordinators so that it can be cleaned
and transferred to the next event. This will guarantee the panels can be
visable for ADV research fundraising and educational purposes.

The idea is for the quilt(s) to make a statement - help educate across
the country and rather not be a decorative piece on someone's bed -(
however you can see how a bed quilt would be a striking one).

There are costs involved in addition to the volunteered squaresprovided .
That is in finish materials, backing, batting ad quilting & binding. We
are fortunate that on the first panel Ardith in NV did volunteer to quilt
it cost free. However as striking as the project is -- it is not a cost
free one.

Those persons who would like to send a square should keep the following
in mind.

Each submitted quilt square needs to be :
100% cotton materials - pre washed
Measurement 12x12 inches complete
The design area should be restricted to the center 10 inches - leaving a
2 inch border on all sides for finishing.
Methods acceptabel are:
embroidery
applique
quilted design
photo transfer

Please keep in mind the squares need to be washable and able to be
pressed with a warm iron. DO NOT USE Fabric Paints which will melt
when pressed.
