Hello all.

I made it a point to sit down tonight and watch the Ferret show. I
found it to be very educational to me since I am planning on showing
my first ferret this year. After watching it I have decided that the
Buckeye Bash will not be the show that I do this at. Since I have never
even been to a show before, I think that show is a bit too big and
crazy to not only be the first show I attend, but also the first show
I bring my kids too. I will still attend the Buckeye Bash but I will
save showing my first ferret for one of the smaller shows.

The one thing that disappointed me about the show was that the only
"bad thing of owning a ferret" that they showed was the biting and the
mischeviousness. Not once was an older ferret or a sick ferret shown or
even talked about. There was no mention to the difficulty of dealing
with the illnesses that so commonly claim our ferrets lives. Personally
I feel that this is a big part to owning a ferret. I actually fear that
because the show made ferrets look so adorable, loveable and fun that
it will cause impulse buying of ferrets. For the ferret lover it opened
up a new world to us and we all love seeing ferrets be ferrets, but for
those who don't know much about ferrets, it made ferrets seem like the
perfect pet.

For all of you that were in the show, OMG you guys have some beautiful
babies. You also gave me some wonderful ideas on things to do with my
kids (i.e. running a tube down the stairs or wrapping one around a cat
tree). You guys also gave me a better idea on what I need to do to
prepare my kids to be shown.

I hope to see more shows like this one make it on the air.

Erin and the 8 fur kids.
