Dear Fellow Cappy:

I've taken the liberty of posting your shelter name as I think it
should be titled as per our conversation during my visit this summer.
What a wonderful experience it was to travel from Rochester, NY to
Holcomb, Ma. and spend "shelter night" and the following four days
meeting, souping and cleaning cages of fur kids while chatting and
meeting in person, for the first time, both fuzzies and humans I have
come to know "long distance."

Community service, leadership, integrity, decision making are all
skills that come with a well trained Cappy. You are that! How you
accomplish all you do while looking out for the welfare of the ferrets
and the people involved in their lives, is impressive. What a heart
touching experience to see new ferrets mingling with the "residents,"
often with little more than an occasional squabble. Ferrets that go
to foster homes are welcomed back not only by you and your team of
"regular soupers, huggers, drivers, and scoopers," but by the ferrets
in the shelter. I'm telling you the place is like a big family The
families like on Leave It to Beaver, where everyone always works out
the issues and settles down to watch Father Knows Best or My Three Sons
at 8:00 each evening with "Tone" and TF treats in paw. Your shelter is
truly a home to these ferrets, they know they will always be welcome
there.

I'm sorry the tide has come in again, dangers of living on the East
Coast I guess. I'm sorry too you are feeling so overwhelmed. Loss is
hard. Loss is even harder when you put your heart and soul into giving
your very best and believing that all creatures are special and deserve
better than many who have come your way have received. But for all the
creatures that come through your door, I believe a higher power brought
them to you. While it is a dedicated shelter Momma who can be with each
ferret at their passing, always remember we can be with our "little
loves" in ways other than the physical realm for you have that special
connection and can be with them whenever you need to; by the power of
intention.

You have also developed such a very special relationship with your vet
and her techs that I bet Little Ripple was well cared for and loved to
the very end even if a crew of surrogate Momma's had to step into your
role, for you had already touched his heart and soul and no one can
ever take that from him. Or from you.

Big hugs to you, Turbie and his friends and all your volunteers.
