Regarding the "debate" of the usage of the words "domestic" and
"domesticated", the following are quotes from the American Heritage
Dictionary:
 
DOMESTIC: Tame or domesticated. Used of animals.
DOMESTICATED: Made domestic. Adopted for domestic use. Introduced and
accustomed (spec. animals or plants) into another region; nationalized.
 
Therefore, a pet ferret would be both domestic (since they are tame animals)
and domesticated (since they were tamed from wild stock and introduced into
America).
