In one of your newsletters where you listed ferret myths, you had as an item the
infamous black-footed ferret as an endangered species.  I always thought this
was true.  Can you elaborate on this, or tell me where to go for information?
 
[It is true.  The item was that some people believe that domestic ferrets *ARE*
black-footed ferrets, and that owners are hence depleting the wild population
of a wild, extremely endangered, species.  That is, of course, blatant nonsense.
Domestic ferrets are NOT black-footed ferrets, nor are they descended from them.
Domestic ferrets descended from Eurasian and/or Steppe Polecats, neither of which
are particularly endangered in their native ranges in Europe and Asia.  The original
item was sort of like saying that domestic cattle are buffalo...  Nope, they're
different...]
