Thanks to those who replied to my posting about Kami, who had a blockage in
her intestines. We went ahead and had the surgery done; the vets agreed it
was best not to wait. So after many extra dollars and veterinary surgeons
giving up some time on their day off, Kami is doing well! She will probably
be coming home tomorrow, which is a good thing. The sooner someone's here
to pacify Moon Boy, the better. I didn't realize how inseparable those two
were until now. (Although I know that she'll need to be by herself for a
little while.)

They said we caught it fairly soon as she was still strong and her
intestines were still 'nice and pink.' This morning I was told her incision
looks good and they will try to give her water later today. If the water
stays put she will be offered some food. Hopefully things will go well.

The offending toy has been discovered and disposed of along with all
similar toys. What it was, was a little fuzzy thing on a bouncy string. I
thought it would be safe because it was fuzzy and not rubbery, but I failed
to notice that the back side of the fuzziness was a sort of leathery
material. This is what became lodged in her innards.

I feel terrified about all toys now. Would anyone care to suggest types of
toys that they feel are ferret safe? They adore toys on bouncy strings but
most of them seem to be made of this fuzzy stuff. I thought I had done a
good job, but now I'm a guilty mom!
