Dear Shron & Rocky

i also had an "only-child" ferret for a year, and never got another one
as i thought it would double the work. When i brought home my second one
at 6 weeks old, my first wasnt too happy, but quickly got used to it.
"Only child syndrome" i think :)

They are now the best of friends, and i would honestly say it has cut
the workload down significantly (apart from more cleanup maybe!) They
entertain each other better than i ever could (mine are both un-caged
as well)

I would DEFINITELY recommend getting a second one, assuming the second
ferret fits in within a few weeks (i kept mine mostly separated for that
long when they first met).

The only thing i would recommend if you do go ahead with it, is to
remember to give Rocky lots of extra attention to let him know he hasnt
been replaced :)

There is no substitute for a ferret play mate, humans just dont cut it
when it comes to the "crocodile wrestling roll" move.

Good luck
