Tonight I was enjoying the glow from the new comet that has come our way
this month. The glimmering lights from the tail were trickling down on
the playing ferrets up here on the bridge.

I took a break from the event to take my place at the foot of the bridge
because a new arrival was due. Someone with quite a name that would
indicate they are a real pickle! I saw the arrival glow at the other end
of the bridge, but no ferret. Then I heard the old boards of the bridge
creaking one at a time. I squinted as hard as I could and finally saw
her ... Ms. Thang!

I smiled and waved a paw at her to guide her in. She picked up her head,
whiskers a twitchin' a mile a minute, and a twinkle came to her eye when
she saw heaven all around us. Her confidence grew and she trotted across
the bridge the rest of the way.

She was a slinky little thing. She'd zip here and there all around me
checking things out, but never venturing far. I told her that the rest
of the Benita gang were here so she would have plenty of friends. So she
asked where they were. I told her that everyone was enjoying a special
time. And I pointed to the comet and all the tiny lights sprinkling the
clouds. "All da angels is chasing the lights! It's fun. Come try!"

With a big smile she trotted off with me to play. Her tail was amazingly
fluffy. She felt the tiny lights falling around her and her tail went
"Puff"!

I said, "That's a pretty incredible tail there, Ms. Thang". She has
quite an attitude, and she said, "I know! All the more to shake at
people." I told her that she didn't have to see people until her mommy
came if she so chose. I told her things could be as peaceful as she
wanted. Then she got worried. And I asked her what was wrong.

"I feel funny things from my Mommy down on earth. What is that?!"

I sat still a second to feel what she meant. Then I knew what she was
talking about. "That's guilt," I said. I explained how her mommy felt
like it was her fault that she left so soon, and that lots of peoples
feel that way whether it was true or not. It was just a hoomin thing.
That's when she told me that she just got tired and wanted to come here,
nothing more than that. So she left.

I said, "really?" She said, "Yah, I was curious about things up here! I
a ferret! I had to come see. It's all okay. You tell her that it's all
okay?"

I said, "I think you just did."
