Hi, Sharon!

I saw something like this in one of my ferret books (the book is in my
bunk so I don't have the title handy). They had a picture of a good
homemade "kludge", as it were. The picture was of a clip-on bowl,
incidentally -- the authors mentioned that the clips were not sturdy
enough to withstand Destruction-thy-name-is-Ferret, so they came up with
this:

Get a plastic bowl with one flat side. This will be the side that goes
against the cage.

Drill two holes in it (parallel to the bowl's lip, of course). Drill
them far enough apart that the bowl has some stability, and high enough
so that food bits don't get jammed up in the holes.

Get another rectangular piece of plastic or metal and drill two holes in
it with the same spacing as on the bowl.

"Sandwich" the cage between the bowl and the rectangle and use screws
with wingnuts to fasten the bowl and rectangle together (obviously, the
wingnuts go on the outside of the cage). This gives you an attached bowl
that easily comes off for cleaning.

I've also seen people drill holes and use twist-ties; personally, I'd
prefer the wingnut thing because it's more sturdy (and less chewable).

Hope this helps!
