At the risk of inflaming this issue further (pun intended ;)), I haven't
heard any mention of Eosinophilic Gastroenteristis (EG) in this
discussion of IBD. I have a ferret who was diagnosed with EG almost two
years ago. During adrenal surgery, my vet noticed that his intestines
were quite inflamed, and he sent a tissue sample out for biopsy, which
confirmed EG. He has been on prednisone ever since. He has never shown
any EG symptoms, thankfully, and remains a healthy and active little guy.

EG, as I understand it, is thought to be an allergic response or
auto-immune disease, where the bodies own white blood cells attack the
gastrointestinal tissue for some reason, possibly triggered by a food
allergy or parasites. So, I was wondering, could EG be one of the
maladies that gets lumped into the IBD category?
