Sometimes my ferrets make a coughing , throaty noise that sounds like they
have something stuck in their throat. It is usually preceeded by a bunch of
sneezes. The vet has checked them afterwards and said their trachea sounds
scratchy and harsh. He has me give them Benedryl when this happens. This is
very scarry to me because it seems as if they aren't breathing correctly at
the time but they will stand there with their mouths closed and breathe
fine. They just heave and make this noise . It sometimes seems like maybe
they are nauseated and one has vomited once when she was doing this. Do
they act this way if they have a sore throat? When my Buddy did this the
vet said his throat was pink and sore looking. Benedryl always seems to do
the trick.

Has anyone else had this problem? I would appreciate it if you would let me
know or send suggestions on what it might be.
