Two quick stories: I was thinking about the ferrets and fire-lizards
thread, and how grateful we all were that they couldn't go between. My own
baby ferret (okay, she's coming up on a year old now, and isn't a baby, but
she was my first kit!) is named Tesseract, because of how she traveled when
I first brought her home--I never saw her move from point A to point B, she
was just there. For those of you who don't know, the word "tesseract"
comes from "A Wrinkle in Time" by Madeleine L'Engle, a classic children's
book... And Tesseract shortens to Tess.

The other note was on the topic of ferrets and electronics. When we got
Winter, she went nuts for, of all things, a gigapet. It beeped and was
made of plastic, with a keychain-like metal attachment on the end. For
the longest time, that thing was under the bed, being chewed on or dragged
around. Every now and then, it would beep. The batteries have finally
died, but it's still Winter's gigapet--and I wish we had a camera on hand
when she dashes across the room with it!
