Well, I can't say for sure if this helps, but it does with dogs so I imagine
it does some good in ferrets.  Our ferrets get milkbones every day or every
other day (the petite size for teeny ankle biter dogs).  It seems to do it's
job pretty well, because my vet was awfully impressed with my 6 year old's
teeth at his last visit.
 
As long as he is only getting a very limited amount of raisins (mine get one
or two once or twice a week) and eating dry kibble, maybe toss in a milkbone
there too, he should be okay.  We've never had much of a problem with
cavities, although I notice that whenever we get in a rescue that has been
eating Purina Cat Chow they always have terrible teeth, no matter how old
they are.  The ones that were eating proper food have have had semi-decent
teeth.
 
We've got a zillion rescues in the shelter - anyone here on the list from
Vancouver?  Gimme a call, we may have something for you (we've got nearly
every colour and age under the rainbow).  And the most annoying part is
after spending all that money on newspaper ads, not a single person who
turned in a ferret saw the ad (*sigh*).  Oh well, them's the breaks.
