I want to thank everyone who has emailed me with condolences on
Trinny's passing. It means a lot to have so many ferret friends out
there, and I've tried to respond to everyone individually with my
appreciation. Each day the sadness will lessen a little, and be
replaced by the countless fond memories that I have of Trinity. She and
I formed quite a bond as I cared for her basically around the clock in
the last year and a half. She never suffered and had a high quality of
life with her brothers and sisters up to the final 12 hours or so. I
know that we did all that was possible for her in her last year as she
fought against adrenal disease, insulinoma, and IBD, and that makes the
grieving process a little more bearable.

If there's one thing that I can pass on to others who are caring for
ill ferrets that may have precious little time left, it would be to
always do what you know is best for your little one, even if it means
waking up in the middle of the night for feedings and meds, or giving
up something else that might keep you away from them for too long a
time. Those things mean nothing in the big scheme of life, while
knowing in your heart that you've done everything you can for a ferret
who depends solely on you will last a lifetime.
