I was wondering about something.  I agree that a muzzle will give off a bad
impression and I also understand the wish to protect ones little ones, but I
was wondering how it could be engineered to actually work.  I've taken a good
look at Nibbles since this conversation cropped up and I am not convinced that
anyone could make a muzzle that would work on ferrets.  Judging by the shape
of the skull and the fact that a ferret can lay flat, effectively eliminating
any "edges" that the muzzle could wrap around, I'm at a loss to think of a way
to design one.  I'm not interested in making one myself, but I'd like to see a
design that actually worked.  I could see them now, laying down flat, putting
their pwas on the muzzle and shimmying out of it.  I just don't think it can
be done.  At least not in a way that isn't cruelly limiting the ferret's
mobility.  I've seen dog muzzels and because of the shape of a dog's head, the
muzzle can stay on and only limit the dog's jaw mobility.  This kind of
design, I believe, would be totally ineffectual on ferrets and any attempt at
attaching it to a type of harness would (IMHO) severly limit the mobility of a
ferret's neck and possibly their shoulder area as well.  I don't think it can
be done, but would be interested in seeing a model that works.
