I live in the U.P. of Michigan and the temperature reached 103 degrees this
past weekend.  My girl friend and I have two ferrets and we are
'ferret-sitting' a third.  The heat really got to them.  They would sleep
more than usual and when they played they would rest every couple of
minutes.  So we went out and bought a kiddie pool.  They didn't really like
this, they don't like water that much.  So we filled up a spray bottle and
would spray them down about everyhour.  They loved this.  They just stay in
one place while I spray them in the face.  They try to drink the water that
I spray on them.  We also put out a big heavy bowl of water out,(which they
could not tip over).  They drink from it more than they ever drank from the
water bottle.  Two of the, Scruff and Val, stick there heads in it every now
and then to cool off.  Now that the weather is cooler they are very hyper.
I think they were storing energy on those hot days to use up on the cooler
ones.
