I'm not a vet or anything, but the article about the ferret with the
cracking foot pads who drinks her urine ....
 
I suddenly thought Diabetes, (it runs in my Human family) Diabetes has some
warning signs, like urinating more, and being very thristy.  Also "sweet
urine" is a sign.  (In the 1880's people diagnoised diabetes when the place
someone took a leak attracted flies.)
 
She may be lapping up her urine (ick!) because it is sweet!
