Dear Ferret Friends --

This is my first time responding to any posts just because I have very
strong feelings about people that do not look at the whole picture. I
have read a lot on people saying smoking is bad. I also see a lot say it
is not so bad. That is fine for the moment. What I want to know is for
every one chemical or by-product in a cigarette where else can it be
found?

Carbon Monoxide is a by-product of smoking a cigarette. Problem is it
is also a major by-product of driving a vehicle from point a to point b.

"Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, toxic gas. It is a by-product
of incomplete combustion. Motor vehicles produce more than two-thirds of
the man-made carbon monoxide in the atmosphere. Carbon monoxide reduces
the volume of oxygen that enters the bloodstream and can slow reflexes,
cause drowsiness, impair judgment and vision and even cause death. "

This quote was taking from an EPA website:
http://www.epa.state.il.us/air/vim/guide/air_pollution.html

The only thing is that people cannot let go of driving to minimize the
problem of carbon monoxide. As I see it, I think that people are easy
to point a finger at a problem, but always remember the truth that four
fingers are pointing right back saying what are you doing about the
problem.

Sadly, as others have posted before this people are ignorant to what they
do not want to hear. I could only wish that for one moment we could all
say that when it comes to making a ferret sick... we all have a hand in
it. No one is better than the next, but we can learn from this and learn
to help out and not point the finger. I wish that time was soon, but I
know that things are slow to change.

If a person/shelter is to put on their application for an adoption that
the potential adopter cannot smoke, do they also put a clause in saying
if the adopter drives a car they cannot adopt? Which is the lesser of
the two evils? Now, in saying that I do not smoke, but people very close
to me do, and though I do not agree with smoking I cannot say that I am
any better than them because I do drive a vehicle.
